Bailey Zappe sabotages Patriots ahead of Steelers game
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

Despite being one of the worst teams in the league, the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick still believe in " The Patriot Way."

A type of culture that resulted in six championships and a 20-year dynasty, it may have worked in the past, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears this year.

Patriots QB Bailey Zappe just proved that:

Zappe Let's The Cat Out Of The Bag

Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Bailey Zappe was asked if he's been told he is the starting quarterback for this week's game. And he seems to have let the cat out of the bag despite trying to be discrete.

“Coach made it pretty clear, but I’ll let him announce it to everybody,” Zappe said.

That makes it pretty obvious that it will be Zappe hour once again.

There was a time when the Patriots played everything close to the vest, with information like this never geting out. Maybe it's because the team isn't as good as they used to be, or maybe Zappe was told he can act as the starter.

Either way, it speaks to the state of the Patriots and the fall of New England as a whole. The pats drafted Mac Jones just two years ago and he's been benched multiple times for Zappe, who was cut before the season even started and then brought back.

So it's been a fall far from grace, with New England likely already onto the draft even though the calendar just turned to December.
