Report: Spurs Interested In Trading For Hawks’ Dejounte Murray
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs are interested in trading for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The Spurs traded Murray to the Hawks in June 2022.

Murray appeared in 320 games with the Spurs before getting traded to the Hawks. He averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks while shooting 45.5% from the field, 33.0% from beyond the arc and 77.1% from the free-throw line.

Murray made the 2022 All-Star team and the 2017-18 All-Defensive Second Team. The Washington product also won the 2022 steals title.

Murray is averaging 20.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks this season while shooting 46.7% from the floor, 38.4% from 3 and 80.7% from the foul line. He’s making $17.7 million.

The Hawks signed Murray to a four-year, $114 million veteran contract extension in July. Murray will make $24.8 million next season. Atlanta is widely expected to trade Murray this season.

Along with the Spurs, Murray has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers. Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group is Murray’s agent. Murray has career averages of 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Spurs and Hawks.

It will be fascinating to see where the Hawks trade Murray. It would be quite the story to see Murray back with the Spurs playing with Victor Wembanyama.
