Mario Chalmers has 'been patiently waiting' to join the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers' title aspirations have once again been hurt by injury, as Rajon Rondo has reportedly suffered a broken hand that will keep him off the court for 6-8 weeks. It's a tough setback for the team, as they were already short on guard depth due to Avery Bradley opting out of the resumed season in Orlando. However, the Lakers may not need to worry too much, as former LeBron teammate and two-time champion Mario Chalmers volunteered his services to join the team.

"Sounds like Lakers need another pg... been patiently waitin and workin," Chalmers commented on a Bleacher Report post about Rondo's injury.

Chalmers is right about his patience, as he has been out of the NBA for the last two seasons. But Chalmers is a player who has never been short on confidence, and he sounds like he is more than ready to get back on the court and compete for more championships with LeBron.

Unfortunately for Chalmers, that's not really an option, as the Lakers can't even sign someone to replace him because he has not opted out of Orlando or tested positive for COVID-19. So the Lakers are basically hoping that by the time Rondo is healthy again, they're still playing.

Plus even if the Lakers could replace Rondo, would they really want Chalmers? After all, Chalmers is 34 years old and even in his prime, was not exactly an All-Star caliber player. And unless the Lakers have a few positive coronavirus tests, it's highly unlikely he'll be making his way to Orlando.
