Since being fired by Arturas Karnisovas, Boylen has not held any position related to the NBA. This summer, Team USA tabbed him to serve as head coach for the World Cup Qualifiers. The qualifiers are staged during the course of the NBA season, so no NBA or NCAA coaching talent will be taking part. Boylen was a prime candidate for the gig as a recently unemployed NBA coach.
In the meantime, Jim Boylen will provide commentary from the studios of NBA TV. With Thursday night’s broadcast involving the team he previously coached, Bulls fans will surely be intrigued to hear what he has to say about the changes that have taken place since his departure.
