Dallas Mavericks: Analyst Has 1 BIG Question for Kyrie Irving as Regular Season Ends
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks are doing everything they can to make an automatic playoff ticket as the 2023-24 regular season comes to an end. Jason Kidd needs every player of his to zero in on the remaining games of the season if they don’t want to have a tough time through the play-in tournament.

Analysts and fans have high expectations of Luka Doncic’s supporting cast this season, but none are set at a higher standard than Kyrie Irving. The 32-year-old Duke alumnus is brought in to help Luka make a deep playoff run, and fans hope that this is the year he can finally make his impact felt.

He’s been performing well for the Mavs lately, but one analyst still has question on whether Uncle Drew can still bring it on the big stage.

Analyst wants to know if Kyrie Irving can still make an impact for the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs

Noah Weber of The Smoking Cuban understands how great of a player Irving has been for the Mavericks this season, even highlighting the incredible game-winner he had against the Denver Nuggets recently.

However, he is still uncertain whether the mercurial point guard is the right co-star that can help Luka make his first NBA Finals appearance. He wants Uncle Drew to become more consistent as a co-star the same way he was during his years in the Cleveland Cavaliers as LeBron James’ sidekick:

In order for the Mavs to shock the world and reach the NBA Finals, they need Irving to keep being a great co-star to Doncic. Everyone knows that Doncic is going to do his thing almost every game, and having someone like Irving who can uplift the team when Doncic is having an off game is vital.

Mavs fans have no reason to not believe that Irving will be reliable in the playoffs, and seeing Irving suit up for Dallas in a playoff game is something fans can’t wait to see.

Irving has been balling out for the Dallas Mavericks this season, averaging 25.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. He’s shooting 49% from the field, 41% from deep, and 91% from the charity stripe.

If he continues this level of performance for the Mavs, there’s no reason why they won’t make the NBA Finals. After all, Mark Cuban is doing everything to make him as comfortable with the team as possible.
