The White Sox are making additional changes to their roster.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s game vs. Kansas City, the team recalled outfielder Jake Marisnick and right-handed reliever Nick Padilla from Triple-A Charlotte. Outfielder Billy Hamilton has been placed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 7) with a left hamstring strain, while struggling right-hander Alex Colome has been designated for assignment.

Marisnick, 32, will make his White Sox debut this season after signing a minor league deal on January 10. The veteran is hitting .264/.407/.391 (23-for-87) with six doubles, one home run, nine RBI, 17 walks and 12 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 30 games with Charlotte this season
A journeyman since 2019, Marisnick last played for the Pirates in 2022. Most fans, however, likely recognize him from his time with the Astros, where he played from 2014-2019.
Like Hamilton, Marisnick is a guy with solid speed and good fielding ability. He has posted +48 OAA over the course of his career and was in the 86th percentile in sprint speed last season. Many can expect to see him late in games in a similar role to Hamilton as either a pinch-runner or defensive replacement.

Speaking of Hamilton, the recently selected outfielder has appeared in three games with Chicago since May 2. Though he’s gone hitless in two at-bats, Billy has caused chaos on the bases with two stolen bases and runs scored.
Shifting over to the bullpen, the Colome experiment is officially over. After signing on a minor league deal, Colomé went 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA (2 ER/3.0 IP) and two strikeouts in four relief appearances with the Sox. It felt like it was a matter of time until we saw the team make a change.
Padilla, on the other hand, is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA (6 ER/14.0 IP), one save, 15 strikeouts, and a .180 (9-for50) opponents average in 12 relief appearances with Charlotte. He served as the 27th player for a doubleheader on April 18 vs. Philadelphia but did not pitch. Padilla was claimed off waivers by the White Sox from the Cubs on September 9, 2022.
Following the moves today, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
