Watch: Mets SP Chris Bassitt seems to confirm opt-out plans

Starting pitcher Chris Bassitt talked with Jomboy Media's Chris Rose recently about his offseason plans as it pertains to his possible free agency. It sounds like he may be ready to test the market.

Bassitt was traded from the Oakland Athletics to the New York Mets in March in exchange for prospects Adam Oller and J.T. Ginn. In mid-May, Bassitt and the Mets agreed to a one-year, $8.8 million contract only days ahead of his scheduled arbitration hearing

The deal included a $19 million option or $150,000 buyout for 2023.

The 33-year-old 2021 All-Star was New York's most durable starter in 2022, leading the team in games started (30) and innings pitched (181 2/3), while tying Carlos Carrasco with a team-high 15 wins. Bassitt also finished with a strong 3.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.
