Tony La Russa Left The White Sox Announcers Baffled

It was deja vu yesterday for the Chicago White Sox.

Yesterday, during game one of their doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field, manager Tony La Russa made another confusing decision.

With an 0-1 count on Jose Ramirez, La Russa opted to give the All-Star third baseman the free pass.

He did this once already this season when he opted to walk Trea Turner with a 1-2 count, before Max Muncy hit a grand slam and made him pay.

Jomboy Media posted a video of the moment where La Russa made yet another baffling decision, and let’s just say that the White Sox announcers are just as confused as we are in this situation.

Another Lapse In Judgement

It’s clear that the White Sox announcers are over this, having watched him do it twice now already.

What caused La Russa to make this decision yet again?

Who knows?

Has he forgotten how to manage?

Maybe.

But these announcers were clearly just as baffled as the rest of us watching this moment.

There’s no reason to intentionally walk a batter when you’ve already got a strike on him.

But maybe La Russa didn’t like the way the first pitch looked, as the color commentator alluded to.

Still, when you’re up in the count, why give up on the at-bat altogether?

Fortunately, this time, it didn’t come back to haunt the White Sox, but it raises even more questions for La Russa, most notably why he would choose to give a hitter the free pass when there’s already one strike on him.

It just doesn’t make any sense.

Maybe that’s why the White Sox have been struggling so much this year.
