Red Sox trade OF Kevin Pillar to Rockies

The Boston Red Sox made another move before Major League Baseball's 4 p.m. EST trade deadline on Monday.

According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, the Red Sox traded outfielder Kevin Pillar and cash to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for a player to be named later and international slot money.

Colorado adds to its already talented outfield by acquiring Pillar. The Rockies now will boast an outfield that includes Charlie Blackmon, Sam Hilliard and Matt Kemp on top of Pillar.

Pillar agreed to a one-year, $4.25 million deal with the Red Sox and will become a free agent after the 2020 campaign.

This season, the 31-year-old is batting .274 with 13 RBI, four home runs and a .795 OPS in 30 games. He shared outfielding duties with Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Alex Verdugo.
