Rangers tried to convince Kyle Seager to come out of retirement

One team apparently tried to get Kyle Seager to pull a Brady this offseason.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported this week that the Texas Rangers asked the ex-All-Star slugger Seager if he was interested in coming out of retirement to play for them. Seager declined though, saying that he was happily doing chores at home.

The Rangers would have been a notable destination for Seager. For one, they are division rivals with the Seattle Mariners, the team that Seager played for throughout his entire MLB career. For another, the Rangers recently signed Seager’s younger brother, former World Series MVP Corey Seager, to a massive ten-year, $325 million deal.

The elder Seager is still only 34 and smashed 35 homers with 101 RBIs last season. But he appears to be happily retired and not inclined to go back to the MLB drama that he experienced any time soon.
