Rangers acquire RHP Daniel Duarte from Reds

The Texas Rangers acquired right-hander Daniel Duarte from the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Also on Tuesday, the Rangers signed right-hander Jose Urena to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training with the reigning World Series champions.

Duarte, 27, was 3-0 with one save and a 3.69 ERA in 31 relief appearances for Cincinnati last season. He also went 4-0 with seven saves and a 3.34 ERA during his time with Triple-A Louisville in 2023.

Duarte posted a 4.19 ERA in 34 career appearances with the Reds, who designated him for assignment on Saturday after signing free-agent pitcher Brent Suter.

Urena, 32, posted a 0-7 record with a 6.45 ERA in 10 games (all starts) split between the Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox in 2023.

He owns a 39-69 record with a 4.89 ERA in 199 career games (143 starts) with the Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Rockies and White Sox.
