Matt Shaw was born on November 6th, 2001 in Brimfield, Massachusetts. He started his high school career at Wilbraham & Monson Academy before he ended up transferring to Worcester Academy. He was the ninth overall-ranked player in Massachusetts and the third overall shortstop in Massachusetts. He had 80 runs scored, 20 doubles, one triple, 24 home runs, 69 RBIs, 18 steals, and walked 43 times that year earning him Big Ten Conference Player of the Year.
