With the end of the minor league season approaching, there’s one final series for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Double-A affiliate and two more left for their Triple-A affiliate.
Roansy Contreras had a rough afternoon with Triple-A Indy as he lasted 4.2 innings, threw 75 pitches, and landed only 42 for strikes (56% strike percentage).
In addition, Contreras allowed two hits, two runs, three walks, and struck out four.
Altoona won yet again and has now won six in a row. It was a tightly contested matchup against the Akron Rubber Ducks, but an unlikely hero struck gold again late in the game. Altoona is now two wins away from reaching .500.
Let’s see who the unlikely hero for Altoona is and how the rest of the Pirates’ farm system looked Tuesday night.
1B Matt Gorski
2B Nick Gonzales
The Indians dropped game one to Omaha Tuesday afternoon by a score of 10-6.
Matt Gorski blasted his first Triple-A homer and drove in two out of the six runs for Indianapolis on the afternoon. In addition, Nick Gonzales’ two hits were both of the extra-base variety.
3B Jackson Glenn
RHP Cameron Junker
The Curve magic keeps on happening. The Curve and Rubber Ducks were knotted up at two apiece in the top of the eighth.
Jackson Glenn belted a leadoff double, Tsung-Che Cheng sac-bunted Glenn to third, and Carter Bins came to the plate with the lead on the line.
In a 2-2 count, Bins hit a deep fly ball to right field for an out, which was deep enough for Glenn to score and give the Curve a permanent 3-2 lead.
