Nabil Crismatt Is Willing To Take On Any Role Friars Have For Him

Relief pitcher Nail Crismatt has had an up-and-down tenure with the San Diego Padres since he first joined the franchise in 2021. Entering a system that already featured a talented rotation with the likes of Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove, Crismatt mainly got opportunities when starters were injured. He bounced back and forth between the minors and majors but struggled to gain a rhythm in 2022.

Crismatt recorded a 3.76 ERA initially to start the season but saw it drop significantly as the Padres inserted him into more games. Once the playoffs rolled around, he saw no more time at the mound as San Diego went with more consistent options.

The 28-year-old has joined the Friars in Spring Training but there is no guarantee he remains on the squad for the season. Crismatt joined Sammy Levitt of 97.3 The Fan and shared the team's plans for him heading into this year.

"For sure if I make the team, I'm going to be in the bullpen starting the year but I'm just available to whatever they need," said Crismatt. "I'm really open to whatever they need from me and just be that guy if they need one inning, if they need more than one inning, I'm here for whatever they need."

Crismatt should definitely look to take advantage of any chance that San Diego gives him in attempt to gain back the trust he had built with them in early 2022. Despite all of the talent the front office has put together this year, they are still carefully studying what groups work together best in Spring Training and haven't made all final decisions.
