Minor League Report: Will Robertson hit his second home run of the season, Rafael Sánchez had a strong season debut, and more!

Chad Dallas had a rough second start, finishing with a line of 4 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K. The fastball averaged 92.9 mph and touched 94.4 mph while Dallas generated a game-high 10 whiffs. Luis Quiñones picked up the win, finishing with a line of 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, while Hayden Juenger and Brendon Little had similar outings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats lose big

The Fisher Cats won their first game of the season, but fell 9-3 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the second game of the three-game series. Deveraux Harrison had a rough first upper-minor start, finishing with a line of 1.1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K with a home run given up. Alejandro Melean didn’t fare much better, with a 2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 1 K line.

Gabriel Martinez was the standout with the bat, hitting two singles for the only multi-hit game for the Fisher Cats. Alan Roden had the only extra base hit and drove in a run, while Michael Turconi’s single in the top of the second drove in two runs.

They’ll play the rubber match on Sunday, with Adam Macko making his upper-minor debut.

Vancouver Canadians are still winless

In the late game, the Vancouver Canadians fell 3-1 to Spokane, but managed to register seven hits to their three hits in the home opener. Fellow Brennan – Brennan Orf – had a multi-hit game, as did fellow 2023 draftee Jace Bohrofen, who hit one of just two extra-base hits bythe Jays. Nick Goodwin hit the other double, with Jeffrey Wehler and Jommer Hernandez picking up the other two hits.

Rafael Sánchez had a terrific season debut, finishing with a line of 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. I don’t imagine he’ll be in High-A for long this season. Kendry Rojas was roughed up in his first High-A start, finishing with a line of 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. Justin Kelly had a great outing, striking out three batters and allowing a single hit in his inning of work.

Pat Gallagher will get the start for Vancouver in the final game of this series.

Dunedin pick up their first win of the season

The big news coming out of the game is that Brandon Barriera left the game injured after pitching just an inning and a third and giving up two earned runs. Eliander Alcalde pitched two and two thirds, striking out two batters, while Irv Carter finished with a line of 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Kai Peterson finished the game striking out three batters and walking two in his two innings of work.

Arjun Nimmala finished with his first multi-hit game of the season, driving in a run but also striking out twice. Victor Arias also finished with a multi-hit game, hitting the games’ only extra base hit and driving in three runs and walking once.

Other batters with his were Manuel Beltre and Alexis Hernandez . However, they walked a metric boatload, getting on base 11 different times with the free pass. After all that, the Blue Jays won this game 7-2.
