Mariners one-time All-Star, Gold Glove 3B Kyle Seager announces retirement

MLB third baseman Kyle Seager, who has spent his entire 11-year career playing for the Seattle Mariners, announced his retirement from professional baseball on Wednesday.

Seager's announcement, which he kept short and sweet, was released via his wife's Twitter account.

Seager, 34, ends his MLB career with a .251/.321/.442 slash line with 242 home runs, 807 RBI,  55 stolen bases and 705 runs scored. The North Carolina native was also clutch in the infield, garnering himself a Gold Glove award in 2014.

He exits the game having one of his best seasons, including hitting career-high markers for HRs and RBIs.

Seager became a free agent at the start of this offseason. He received a standing ovation from Mariners fans in what turned out to be his final MLB game back in October.
