Halos Legends Tim Salmon and Chuck Finley Get Added to Coaching Staff
USA TODAY Sports

The Angels season hasn’t gone quite the way that anyone had hoped. They have dealt with numerous injuries and inconsistencies throughout the year, and it has now led them to once again likely be missing the postseason.

However, as the year winds down, the team has decided to make some minor additions to their coaching staff. Two former players were added to the staff for the foreseeable future. Chuck Finley and Tim Salmon will be with the team in uniform to help out day-to-day.

“Former Angels Chuck Finley and Tim Salmon are going to be with the team in uniform in the dugout as extra coaches for the foreseeable future, Nevin said. “Just eyes and ears, more of a sounding board for the players,” Nevin said.”

Per The OC Register

The Angels likely want to allow their players to learn from some of the greats who have put on the uniform in the past. With the playoffs essentially out of sight, this is a move to try and help their future.

The team does have a few younger players on the roster that could make an impact down the line, so who better to learn from.

Nobody knows what this roster will look like next season, but if the Angels can help out their players in any way, it could make a difference. Maybe Finley or Salmon notice something that the coaching staff hadn’t, and they can help correct an issue.

Despite being out of the playoff race, the Angels do have a chance to play spoiler and see what they have from some of their guys. These players have an opportunity to show what they can do to the team, as they make their case for next spring.

This is a cool chance for them to learn from some veterans of the game, so you have to commend the Angels for making this decision.
