The New York Yankees have recently made some moves behind the scenes.
They hired a pair of front office pieces to assist in advisory positions, with each having a wealth of experience in the field.
Here is a look into each of the hirings, and how they will likely help the Yankees front office going forward.
2. Brian Sabean
The first hiring was Brian Sabean, the former San Francisco Giants general manager.
He was the architect of the Giants during their dynasty period at the start of the 2010s, helping lead the team to three World Series titles in six years.
After stepping away from the general manager role, Sabean served in an advisory role with the Giants.
Brian Sabean said he expected to do more and be more involved in his advisory role with the Giants, but it didn't turn out that way. He decided to let his contract expire on Oct. 31 and reached out to the Yankees, who offered "a better opportunity" that fit his family needs.

His responsibilities included “working on strategic initiatives as a senior advisor and evaluator,” according to the Yankees press release.
It is expected that he’ll serve a similar role with the Yankees.
The move brings Sabean back to the organization where he started his career.
In 1985 he began as a scout for the Yankees, working his way up to vice president of player development and scouting from 1990-92.
Because of this, the move brings welcomed experience into the Yankees front office.
It is a great hiring, and has been commended by many in the baseball world.
1. Omar Minaya
Following the Sabean hiring, the Yankees announced that they also hired former Montreal Expos and New York Mets GM Omar Minaya.
He started his career with the Texas Rangers.
There, he is credited for discovering players like Ivan Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa.

His scouting background will bring important experience to a Yankees front office that needs that point of view.
While Brian Cashman still serves as the Yankees’ GM, both of these moves give the team new opinions and personalities.
With the lack of World Series success for the team in the last 13 years, this will be very welcomed.
