Former MLB All-Star Has Interesting Description for Dodgers New Starting Pitcher
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The hype surrounding Tyler Glasnow is real.

Since acquiring him from the Tampa Bay Rays in a four-player trade earlier this offseason, the Southern California native has been the most talked about player not hailing from the country of Japan.

Projected to be one of the top pitchers on this squad, Glasnow still has to answer a few questions, namely whether he can stay healthy and exceed the 120.0 IP he had last year in Tampa.

The Dodgers understandably are elated to have gotten a player of his caliber. Few in the Major Leagues can match up with the stuff Glasnow brings to the table.

In fact, former MLB All-Star pitcher Jake Peavy agrees. When speaking about Glasnow on the MLB Network, he had this to say (courtesy of the clip above):

"You know what, he is an ace, absolutely. I want to see it happen too badly Steve, because I love Tyler Glasnow. When you go get around this kid, he's tall, he's built like a Greek god. When you watch these bullpen sessions of what he's able to do, manipulate the baseball."

Glasnow famously towers over the bump with a 6'8" frame. His over-the-top motion only adds to the depth he gets when pounding the ball on hitters with sudden movement.

Routinely in the mid-to-upper 90s on his fastball -- with the capabilities of touching 100 -- Glasnow's repertoire is even more impressive when looking at the spin rate and tilt he accrues on virtually all of his off-speed pitches.

Receiving this compliment from Peavy is nothing to scoff at. Arguably among the most competitive pitchers of his generation, Peavy was a multi-time All-Star and 2007 Cy Young Award winner over a decorated career with the Padres, Giants, Red Sox and White Sox.
