Dallas Keuchel Looked Like His Vintage Self Thursday Night

Ever since signing with the Chicago White Sox, Dallas Keuchel has not been himself, at least not the pitcher he was during his time with the Houston Astros.

The White Sox designated the former ace for assignment after starting the 2022 season off with a 2-5 record and a 7.88 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks took a chance on him and claimed him off waivers from the White Sox, and last night, he looked like his old self on the mound against the Colorado Rockies, allowing three runs over seven innings and striking out four batters as Arizona fell by a final of 4-3.

Keuchel took a no-decision, but Bally Sports Arizona tweeted some highlights from his performance last night, including his pitching line.

Since leaving the Astros, Keuchel has been scratching and clawing to get back to where he once was.

But last night, he gave Arizona fans a glimpse of the kind of pitcher he used to be.

He was once an ace and had Cy Young caliber stuff.

He was a key piece when the Astros won their controversial 2017 World Series title, forming a solid one-two punch with Justin Verlander.

It’s been a while since Keuchel was anywhere close to what he was then.

Last night was a different story though, as he gave the Diamondbacks a chance to win the game and kept them alive for most of the night.

It was a look at the kind of pitcher Keuchel can be when he’s right.

When he’s on, he can be one of the best pitchers in all of baseball, and he was on last night.

Maybe that will help him get back on the right track and start pitching like he once did.
