D-backs ace Zac Gallen extends scoreless streak to 41.1 innings in win over Brewers

Arizona Diamondbacks ace starting pitcher Zac Gallen has been on one heck of a run since early August. And he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Gallen pitched seven scoreless innings in the D-backs' 5-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, marking his sixth consecutive start without allowing a run.

The 27-year-old's scoreless streak is now up to 41 1/3 innings, the eighth longest in MLB history.

In his next start, Gallen will have the opportunity to pass a former Diamonbacks' Cy Young winner. Gallen is just 2/3 of an inning away from tying Brandon Webb for the seventh longest scoreless streak in league history at 42 innings. Another former Cy Young winner, Los Angeles Dodgers great Orel Hershiser, holds the record, posting a scoreless streak of 59 innings in 1988.

Sunday's outing helped Gallen join another exclusive group, as he became just the fourth pitcher, including Hershiser, Don Drysdale, and Zack Greinke, to post six consecutive scoreless starts of six innings or more.

On the year, Gallen is 11-2 with a 2.42 ERA in 26 starts for the Diamondbacks.
