Chicago White Sox Walk-Off Detroit Tigers in Scary Fashion on Saturday
USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White beat the Detroit Tigers on Saturday by a score of 2-1.

While the win was certainly important for Chicago, the focus after the game was on the health of home plate umpire Cory Blaser.

The White Sox team account tweeted out its well wishes as well.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for home plate umpire, Cory Blaser, who was hit by a pitch.

The team put out a heart emoji following those words.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning and Tim Anderson at the plate, Tigers pitcher Jose Cisnero threw a fastball up and in that got past catcher Eric Haase. It hit Blaser squarely in the mask, knocking him over.

The ball ricocheted away from Haase and allowed Yoan Moncada to score the game winning run. Haase's first reaction was to tend to Blaser.

He was able to walk off the field under his own power with the help of the White Sox training staff.

You can see the play here, which was tweeted out by noted baseball personality Jared Carrabis.

"Just the most bizarre walk-off win you’re gonna see this year," he said.

He's probably not wrong about that. It looked like Haase either got crossed-up, or that he was expecting the pitch to be low and away and couldn't get his glove up in time.

The win moved the White Sox to 25-35 on the season. They have won two games in a row and are now seven games back in the American League Central.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 26-30. They are now four games out.
