Carlos Rodon Is Doing His Best Tim Lincecum Impression

Carlos Rodon has adapted quite nicely to his new home out on the West Coast.

The San Francisco Giants‘ new left-handed ace has gone 4-1 with a 1.80 ERA through his first six starts.

He’s also managed to log 35 innings while allowing a total of just seven earned runs.

He’s filling the hole left by Kevin Gausman‘s departure quite nicely.

In fact, he’s even making a little history, channeling former Giants Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum.

He’s now second behind Lincecum for most strikeouts for a Giants pitcher in their first six starts of a season.

Lincecum had two impressive marks, with 50 in 2009 and 56 in 2010.

Rodon has 53.

Channeling “The Freak”

Rodon seems to be giving Giants fans a nice little flashback of “The Freak,” as Lincecum was once called.

The fans in San Francisco have to be loving this.

Rodon is not only building off of a successful 2021 campaign with the Chicago White Sox, but is also proving to be just as good as one of the greats in Giants history.

At his peak, Lincecum was almost unhittable.

His funky delivery was what set him apart from others.

Rodon is a lefty and doesn’t quite have that delivery, but he’s proving that he can be just as good as The Freak, if not better.

He’s proving to be worth every penny the Giants spent on him when they signed him to a two-year, $44 million contract the day after the MLB lockout came to an end.

He has revitalized his career and bounced back from several notable injuries.

We’ll see if he can continue to channel the Giants’ former ace and keep pitching the way he’s been pitching.
