Boston Red Sox' Legend Goes Viral For Hilarious Moment During Gender Reveal
USA TODAY Sports

Boston Red Sox' legend David "Big Papi" Ortiz is going viral on Tuesday for a funny but embarrassing moment during a gender reveal.

The 48-year-old is set to become a father again, which is awesome. As part of the party festivities, Ortiz was supposed to gently hit the ball, which when hit, would turn into blue or pink dust to reveal if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl.

Instead.... this happened:

The @MLB official "X" account posted the video:

Yup, that's Ortiz, who's in the Baseball Hall of Fame, swinging and missing. In fairness, the pitch was very inside on the hands, so I get why that was a tough pitch to handle.

The ball exploded anyways, presumably when it hit the ground, and the dust came out blue, so Ortiz is going to have a boy.

This will be Ortiz's fourth child.

One of the most intimidating hitters of his generation, Ortiz spent 20 years in the big leagues with the Minnesota Twins and the Red Sox. He helped the Red Sox win the world Series in 2004, 2007 and 2013 and was named a 10-time All-Star.

In addition, he also was a World Series MVP winner, and a seven-time Silver Slugger.

Ortiz hit 541 career home runs and posted a lifetime batting average of .286. He led the league in home runs back in 2006 and led the league in doubles in 2016. He also won the RBI crown on two different occasions.

Known to be at his best in the playoffs, Oritz hit .289 in the postseason.
