Analyst gives Oakland Athletics an 'F------' grade for April

ESPN's David Schoenfield had absolutely nothing positive to say about the woeful Oakland Athletics while handing out grades for how teams performed in April.

"That's a big fat 'F' as in ... Fisher. Yeah, John Fisher, the owner who announced the team has agreed to buy land near the Las Vegas Strip with the idea of building a stadium and moving the team there for the 2027 season," Schoenfield wrote about giving the Athletics a grade of "F------."

Oakland began Monday and May with a league-worst record of 6-23, and it's hardly a surprise that an Athletics team seemingly not even trying to win this season is arguably unwatchable.

As Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report mentioned back in January, Oakland parted ways with multiple big-name talents but still has what was referred to as a "just OK" farm system.

Meanwhile, Schoenfield noted that the Athletics are a mess both on and off the field. He poked fun at the fact that a possum spent at least the opening month of the season living in the visiting team broadcast booth, and it was learned that the possum had "a nest in the radio booth" in 2022.

Schoenfield also bashed Oakland for being responsible for the lowest player payroll in all of MLB.

"(The A's) have lost games 18-3, 17-6, 13-1, 12-2, 11-0 (twice) and 10-1," Schoenfield continued. "In that 17-6 loss (to the New York Mets on April 14), they walked 17 batters. Their starting pitchers are 0-15 with an 8.51 ERA.

"The A's moved to Oakland in 1968 and have the sixth-best winning percentage in the majors since then. They're not going to have a winning season in 2023."

Oakland finished the 2022 season with a record of 60-102. The 2023 Athletics may struggle to reach 50 victories if they continue winning roughly 21% of their games through the start of summer.
