An Insane Stat Regarding New York Mets' OF Tyrone Taylor as 2024 Season Gets Closer
USA TODAY Sports

As the New York Mets get set to go to spring training and embark on the 2024 season, new outfielder Tyrone Taylor has quite the streak to protect.

Per Danny Vietti of CBS Sports:

Tyrone Taylor has played 331 total games across parts of 5 MLB seasons. He has never made an error.

He is the only remaining player in MLB with 0 errors (minimum 500 innings).

The 30-year-old outfielder was traded from the Brewers to the Mets this offseason and will now work on making the Opening Day roster in New York.

As of now, he's one of six outfielders on the Mets 40-man roster, along with Starling Marte, Brandon Nimmo, Harrison Bader, Alex Ramirez, and DJ Stewart. Stewart projects as more of a designated hitter type so there's certainly a chance that Taylor can crack the rotation.

While clearly a good defender, Taylor is also able to hold his own at the plate. He's a .239 hitter with 41 career homers. He played in 120 games for the Brewers back in 2022 and appeared in 81 this past season.

The Mets appear headed for a mini-rebuild after a disappointing 2023 season that saw them finish fourth in the National League East. They traded away Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer last trade deadline, acquiring several prospects in the process.

The team will use this year as a bridge year until those prospects are ready to contribute. They figure to be behind the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies in the challenging NL East.
