Since making his MLB debut in 2016, designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach has played on five different teams in his eight seasons. Vogelbach had a tremendous 2019, blasting 30 home runs. Since then, he’s been trying to find the same groove back when he was named an All-Star in that 2019 season. In what seemed like a quick two-year stint with the New York Mets, Daniel became a free agent after the 2023 season . Now, Daniel Vogelbach has just signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to Robert Murray of Fansided. Jon Heyman of the New York Post added that it is a minor league deal with a spring training invite. Vogelbach can now call Toronto his new home for the time being. He’ll be looking to both improve statistically and help the Jays make the postseason in 2024.

2019 All-Star Daniel Vogelbach Signs with Blue Jays

Vogelbach’s best two pitches to hit during the 2023 season were a sinker and a four-seam fastball. Daniel slugged .791 and had a ten percent strikeout rate against a sinker. He also had a .420 slugging percentage against a fastball, hitting ten of his 13 home runs against that particular pitch. Vogelbach’s worst two pitches to see in 2023 were a slider and a curveball. Against both pitches, Vogelbach batted .180 and .143, respectively. He had a strikeout rate of nearly 34 percent against the slider and 30 percent against the curveball. If Daniel Vogelbach wants to be an intimidating designated hitter like he was during his 2019 All-Star season, he will have to be more potent at the plate.

Vogelbach’s 2023 Stats

Daniel played 104 games with the New York Mets last season. In 275 at-bats, Vogelbach recorded 64 hits, 13 home runs, and 48 runs batted in with a .233 batting average. The 2019 All-Star’s best game in 2023 happened on August 19th against the St. Louis Cardinals. Vogelbach went one for four with a home run and four runs batted in during a 13-2 win. A few days before on August 12th, the New York Mets got blown out 21-3 by the Atlanta Braves. Daniel provided the Mets only three runs that game by hitting a three-run homer.
