Our 18 favorite major tournament venues

As we embark on the second major of the season — yes, the PGA Championship is now in May — it's only fitting to think about all the legendary courses that have hosted major championships over the years. Whether in the U.S. or U.K., there certainly are some great ones — even where a few of us hackers can play if we have the money.

There's plenty of history on this list but also a modern track that pays homage to old-time golf. Here's a look at our 18 favorite courses that have hosted and continue to host golf's major tournaments.

However, the course on the southwest end of the city saw Jack Fleck beat Ben Hogan in a playoff during the 1955 Open and Billy Casper outlast Arnold Palmer at the same event in '66.
