Raiders Draft Prospect: CB Kamal Hadden, Tennessee
Brianna Paciorka/News Sentinel-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Las Vegas Raiders are looking for young talent to build their foundation in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Raiders are entering a new era after promoting Antonio Pierce to head coach and hiring Tom Telesco as their new general manager. Las Vegas is hoping for lots of success under this new regime.

When Pierce took over as interim head coach midseason, the Raiders bought into the culture he developed and turned their season around, falling just short of a postseason appearance. They are hoping an offseason of acquiring talent can help push them over the top and into the playoffs.

One player who could help them do that is Tennessee cornerback Kamal Hadden. Before a season-ending shoulder surgery, Hadden was one of the best defensive players on the Volunteers.

After a unique start to his collegiate career that saw him make a stop at a community college, Hadden settled in with the Volunteers and finished his career with 87 total tackles, five and a half tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, 12 passes defended, and six interceptions.

Hadden has the necessary size to be an outside corner in the NFL at 6-foot-1 and 197 pounds. Because of his injury, he may slip to the later rounds and be a value pick. He has a long frame and is well-built with long arms.

Hadden has the necessary skill set to be an NFL cornerback. He has good speed and agility to stick with receivers downfield. Hadden is a high-IQ player with great instincts who can high-point the football and make plays in the passing game.

According to Pro Football Focus, Hadden was targeted 107 times and allowed 54 receptions for 665 yards and four touchdowns.

In the run game, Hadden shows a fiery competitiveness. He makes big hits on ball carriers as he tries to dislodge the ball. He is good at squaring his shoulders and breaking down to make the tackle.

While he is a good athlete, Hadden is not technically refined and gets too physical against receivers. He must improve his footwork and get less handsy to survive at the NFL level.

As previously stated, Hadden may fall in the draft due to injury concerns, but he is a unique talent. He likely would be a first or second-round selection if not for his shoulder surgery.

If the Raiders are looking for a smart, competitive corner to add to their young defensive back room, Hadden may be a good fit on day three.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
