Legendary NFL Coach Speaks Out On Chargers’ Joe Alt

The 2024 NFL Draft brought about much speculation for the Los Angeles Chargers and their fans.

Uncertainty loomed regarding the team’s approach with the No. 5 overall pick. With a pressing need for a wide receiver, one plausible direction for the Chargers, satisfying their fanbase.

Yet, another discourse centered on safeguarding their prized asset, Justin Herbert.

Ultimately, the Chargers opted for the latter concern, selecting Joe Alt, an offensive tackle from Notre Dame. While Alt arrived with considerable hype, pundits debated between him and JC Latham, another highly regarded offensive lineman.

Despite the tough decision, the Chargers chose Alt. Bill Belichick, in a conversation on the Pat McAfee Show, offered high praise for Alt following the Chargers’ decision.

Alt’s stellar performance at Notre Dame made him a foreseeable top draft pick for many NFL enthusiasts. With his selection, curiosity arises regarding the Chargers’ outlook for 2024.

In recent months, the Los Angeles Chargers underwent substantial roster adjustments, bidding farewell to key receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Should the Chargers strategically address their receiver needs in later draft rounds, they could unearth the missing pieces to bolster Herbert’s success.

While an offensive lineman is never the “sexy” pick for any NFL team, fans love to complain about them being taken early in the draft until their quarterback can’t stay upright. This was a fantastic pick for the Chargers and Joe Alt will help Justin Herbert in a big way.
