'I suck,' MLB HOF David Ortiz gives candid assessment about his golfing skills during meet-up with Rory McIlroy

While Ortiz was feared as one of the greatest hitters of all time due to his ability to pull the ball long, he seems to be having trouble with golf. He would later ask McIlroy for some help to improve his game.

In his talks with the 34-year-old golfer Ortiz said:

They asked me earlier, "Would you like to get a lesson from the guy?" I was like, "I suck but I would love to at some point". David Ortiz on his golf game while speaking with Rory McIlroy.

Will the 10-time MLB All-Star be actually able to improve his game now remains to be seen. He though is not the first celebrity this week who is trying to seek help from McIlroy.

Popular music artist DJ Khaled recently challenged the North Irish golfer to a nine-hole match. He would later express his desire to improve his game while being in Rory’s greatness.

This week has been a big one for Rory McIlroy. He started off the week with an impressive victory at The Match against Max Homa, Rose Zhang and Lexi Thompson.

Later he would find his name in the spotlight following a scathing remark regarding his potential Masters’ triumph by Talor Gooch. He has now given a hilarious response on when he would like to retire.

When asked about whether he can keep the hunger alive for another 17 years, he denied and claimed another 10 years seems fine for him. As Kevin Porter reaffirmed the statement saying, “That’s the goal ten more years?“, he jokingly replied, “Yeah, Yeah. Or a green jacket and just walk away“.

The Masters is the only major McIlroy has failed to win in this career. His best performance came in 2022 when he finished second, three shots behind eventual winner Scottie Scheffler. A win this year, would not only see him break a 10-year major drought but also complete a career grand slam, a feat only achieved by five golfers so far.

Before that though, he has to navigate his way at the Cognizant Classic where he is currently playing. A victory here would boost up his chances and confidence even more to conquer the Augusta National.
