Dwyane Wade Drops Simple But Powerful Reaction To Candace Parker’s Retirement
Lucas Peltier-USA TODAY Sports

Just recently, Candace Parker surprised everyone when she dropped an announcement about her retirement from the league. Along with Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese and NBA legend Magic Johnson , former Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade was among those who have sent their love to the WNBA star.

Parker first entered the league as the Los Angeles Sparks’ first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft after a standout college stint playing for Tennessee. During her rookie campaign, she posted averages of 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Her impressive run during that period gave the current NBA analyst the distinction of becoming the first player to win Rookie of the Year and MVP at the same time. But it would take another eight years before she got to lead the Sparks to a championship in 2016. The seven-time All-Star would replicate this feat in 2021 with the Chicago Sky and in 2023 with the Las Vegas Aces.

After 16 years in the league, Parker would amass a number of accolades and records along the way. Apart from three rings, the WNBA star has two MVPs, one Finals MVP, seven All-WNBA team selections, three rebounding titles, and the honor of winning different championships with three different teams.

Miami Heat Legend Delivers Short and Strong Reaction to WNBA Star Candace Parker’s Retirement

The retirement announcement spurred different personalities in the sporting world to give their take on the latest news about her. Among those individuals is Miami Heat legend and three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade when he posted his short and powerful reaction on X:

For his part, Wade is a legend in the NBA in his own right. During his 16-year run in the league, the Flash won three rings, one scoring title, one Finals MVP, one All-Star Game MVP, and 13 All-Star Game selections, among others. He is also part of two iconic Heat teams – the first with Shaquille O’Neal and the second with LeBron James and Chris Bosh.

Without a doubt, she will go down as one of the best women to ever play in the WNBA. And with an influx of new stars, such as Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and Los Angeles Sparks’ Cameron Brink, the void she left behind won’t be as bad as expected. Nevertheless, the Las Vegas Aces star will leave behind a legacy most female ballers in the league can only wish for.
