Why Brant Kuithe Could Be Set To 'Run It Back' With Cam Rising in 2024
USA TODAY Sports

The Utah Utes will face the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday in the last bout of the season and since it's at home, Senior Day festivities will also commence during the game.

The likes of Cole Bishop, Miles Battle, Thomas Yassmin, Devaughn Vele, and Zemaiah Vaughn will be walking on Rice-Eccles field for the last time as a player but one key name was left out.

With the return of Cam Rising announced last week, all eyes turned to the Brant Kuithe decision. The star tight end whose career has been riddled with injuries was speculated to declare for the draft despite missing all of the 2023 season. However, outside of speculation and playing the guessing game, there has been very little concrete evidence to support either position until now.

Usually, when a player walks, that signals the end of their time representing the U as a player, either because of eligibility or simply because they were talented enough to declare early. With the big tight end not being named on the 2023 seniors list, it may very well be because he is planning on showing out with his QB for one final ride.

Kutihe would be an incredible retention for Coach Whittingham and the Utes as he not only is a strong veteran presence, he's a pretty damn good football player too. His return gives the team a much-needed big-man boost at WR and could form a new formidable duo with Landen King in the TE slot. Former teammate and first-round pick Dalton Kincaid has now taken over the starting TE spot in Buffalo and in college, Kuithe was touted as the better of the two.

Now with Kuithe returning, he has a chance to prove himself one final time, and with a full recovery cycle under his belt, he'll be itching to feel the grass under his cleats one final time in a Utah uniform.
