In a transfer portal period that has seen some big-time names and big-time production change college football homes, don't overlook the importance of wide receiver Dont'e Thornton transferring from Oregon to Tennessee.
Thornton didn't put up huge numbers for the Ducks this past season — just 17 catches for 336 yards and a touchdown — but he's an up-and-comer with elite potential.
A former four-star recruit, Thornton, a sophomore, stepped up for Oregon over the Ducks' final four games of the season.
He caught his first and only touchdown of the season against No. 25 Washington and then followed that up with a four-catch, 151-yard game against No. 10 Utah the very next week.
Notably, Thornton's ascension at Oregon corresponded with the injury to senior Chase Cota, so the young wide receiver proved that he can step up and make plays in an extended role.

Thornton has the speed, talent, and size (6-foot-5, 199 pounds) to be an elite deep threat for the Volunteers in 2023.
