Oklahoma Analyst Officially Hired by Kansas State
Annie Rice / Avalanche-Journal-USA TODAY NETWORK

An Oklahoma support staffer is officially on the move.

Matt Wells , who spent two years as an analyst for Brent Venables Sooners, is set to become the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Kansas State.

The Wildcats officially announced Wells’ new position on Thursday after GoPowercat.com reported the possibility of the move earlier in the week.

Before arriving to work behind the scenes in Norman, Wells was previously the head coach at Texas Tech and led Utah State in a successful stint in charge of his alma mater.

Wells will add plenty of experience in Manhattan after Chris Klieman lost offensive coordinator Collin Klein to the same position at Texas A&M.

A talented offensive mind, Wells made his name for himself as Utah State’s offensive coordinator before taking on the full head coaching job in 2013. He finished a combined 44-34 in six seasons before getting hired to take over the Red Raiders in Lubbock.

There, Wells posted a 13-17 record before getting dismissed in 2021.

In Norman, Wells was an experienced hand to help Jeff Lebby’s offense over the past two years.
