King of Props: South Alabama vs. Western Kentucky in New Orleans Bowl offers a Big Easy betting opportunity

The time between the end of the regular season and a bowl game can provide telling insight about the cohesiveness of a college football team. In the month since Western Kentucky’s last game, quarterback Austin Reed and wide receiver Malachi Corley entered the transfer portal but decided to return, fellow receiver Daewood Davis declared for the NFL draft, and two starting offensive linemen opted to transfer. It has been much quieter for the school’s New Orleans Bowl opponent, South Alabama, and we like that side for our top prop:

The bet: Over 44½ receiving yards for South Alabama wide receiver Devin Voisin (DraftKings)

Still officially a sophomore due to COVID and a medical redshirt, Voisin is in his fourth season for the Jaguars after largely playing on special teams during the first three. He has accumulated 714 receiving yards on 53 catches, averaging well over this number at 60 yards per game.

The keys to Voisin’s success have been spending extra time with new quarterback Carter Bradley and making a staunch commitment to film study, which he admits to neglecting earlier in his career. Coach Kane Wommack now calls him “arguably the hardest worker on the offensive side of the ball,” according to the Lagniappe.

Voisin has exploded for four games of more than 90 receiving yards this season. Playing in a dome filled with fans who made the two-hour trip from Mobile and facing a Western Kentucky pass defense that’s missing opted-out cornerback Kahlef Hailassie, getting half of that total figures to be both big and easy.
