The main question mark of the 2024 squad is Cam Rising, especially coming off the sidelines, his mobility has especially been at the forefront of those questions. However, in the first spring practice of the year, Rising put those qualms to rest as his arm not only looked good, but he scrambled multiple times, even scoring a touchdown. In post-practice interviews, Micah Bernard said he was surprised to see Rising move so well which is a welcome endorsement for the QB.

New transfer WR from USC Dorian Singer got in his first bit of Utah football action on day 1 of spring ball. Singer and Rising already have a sound connection and Rising echoed the on field product in his post-practice interview saying that his rapport with Singer is really good. If Rising can stay healthy, their connection could be reminiscent of the connection he had with Kincaid/Kuithe in terms of production and electricity.

Brant Kuithe looked good in his return to action, coming down with a jumping touchdown grab from none other than Cam Rising. Kuithe said that Rising played a big factor in his return and it seems like their connection hasn't lost a step. The TE also seemed happy to report that he is without restrictions and despite still getting back into the groove of things, he is feeling good and thinks the Utes can go far in 2024 with the talent they have.

The backup QB battle is crucial for the upcoming season. After the disaster that was the 2023 season, Coach Whittingham will be sure to have QB2 ready to go, especially with Rising's injury history still looming large. Currently, Brandon Rose is listed as QB2 while Isaac Wilson is QB3 and it looks like that is how the depth chart will pan out for the season. Rose looked composed in practice, making the right decisions and executing some passes on the run with ease. While fans were clamoring for a transfer QB, it seems as if Rose has made a leap in his understanding and analyzation of the game which will prove well if his number is called.
