WVU Basketball coaching odds were released by HoopDirt.com on Friday morning. West Virginia AD Wren Baker officially opened a search for a new men’s basketball head coach on Wednesday, moving on from interim Josh Eilert.
Let’s take a look at the odds, which include former WVU HC Bob Huggins.
-250: Current D-I head coach
+275: Mark Byington (James Madison)
+400: Pat Kelsey (College of Charleston)
+525: Darian DeVries (Drake)
+675: Jerrod Calhoun (Youngstown State)
+900: Niko Medved (Colorado State)
+925: Dusty May (Florida Atlantic)
+950: Chris Mack
+975: Current HM D-I assistant
+1100: Dustin Kerns (App State)
+1100: Josh Schertz (Indiana State)
+2500: Bob Huggins
Baker discussed with the media about his preferred timeline and what he’s looking for in candidates. Baker hopes to have a coach by the Final Four in early April, if not earlier.
West Virginia’s job has been unofficially open since last June following Huggins’ resignation, which led to then-assistant Eilert being promoted on a 10-month contract. West Virginia’s roster had talent but didn’t get on the floor together until late January and then struggled to mesh. WVU ended the season 9-23, the most losses in a single season for the program.
