MAC suspends four Kent State players for title game after social media post

Kent State is a win against Akron in the MAC Championship away from a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but will be without a chunk of its roster after a video got several players in trouble.

Shortly after Kent State beat Ohio in the semifinals, 67-61, forward DJ Johnson posted a video on Snapchat that showed multiple players chanting expletives about Akron. In a statement Saturday, the MAC announced Johnson is suspended for the Saturday matchup against Akron and three other players will be forced to sit the first half.

The loss of Malique Jacobs is the most notable for Kent State, even if it's only for a half. Jacobs is the Golden Flashes' second leading scorer with 12.5 points per game, and he leads the team in rebounds with 7.8 per game. In Kent State's last game against Akron, a 66-64 win in February, Jacobs finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and four steals.

The MAC Championship Game between Kent State and Akron is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
