“Of course, the atmosphere brings it all back again. My knuckles start getting itchy. It’s getting talked about. Listen, it can happen. I can come out. I can take my slippers and pipe to one side. Get my trainers back out. Dust my gloves off, get that adrenalin going again, and get the fans. For me, I want to speak with the fans. They’ve not had a night like when me, and [Amir] Khan were in Manchester [in February 2022],” Brook said

Nevertheless, some hurdles still need overcoming if this fight were to happen. Eubank Jr. fights at 160, something Brook would have to do for only the second time in his career. He moved up two weight classes to take on Gennady Golovkin as he was knocked out.

The boxer broke his orbital bone with suggestions that he was never the same fighter. Brook would then move back down after the loss to face Errol Spence Jr. as he lost his IBF Welterweight Title after being stopped. In the Spence loss, the boxer damaged his other eye, and he never won another world title. But Brook shut down any worries over his health as he entertained a return.

“It’s a fight. I don’t like the guy. It’s a fight where the fans are going to get a treat from start to finish. From the build-up to the fight, and it’s a fight that I can get out of bed for. Get out of those silk sheets and hit that road,” Brook stated

The fight will no doubt generate interest as a big domestic clash. It would also provide Brook another massive payday at the latter end of his career. Brook is now 37 years old and has nothing else to prove in the sport, having already been a world champion. But by taking the fight, he does risk harming his legacy.

He retired on top, beating his long rival Amir Khan to cap off his career as the best welterweight in Britain at the time. Facing Eubank does nothing for his legacy, but it could harm his health long-term if he suffers a loss since he is fighting at 160, where he will face bigger punchers. But Brook has shown that he can get himself up for a big fight. Time will tell how it all plays out.
