Conor Benn slams Chris Eubank Jr’s knockout win over Liam Smith blames injury

Conor Benn wants to fight Chris Eubank Jr next after he knocked out Liam Smith in their rematch last night in Manchester.

Eubank put on a dominant performance scoring a tenth round stoppage win over his rival but many have alluded to Smith ‘rolling his ankles’ including the Sky commententary team and of course fellow Liverpudlian Tony Bellew.

He won’t make excuses Liam as it’s not his way but anyone who knows boxing or knows him knows that something was clearly up from round 2 onwards! Credit to Chris Eubank for getting back in there with him but for me that wasn’t the Liam Smith we all know!

Well Conor Benn was in attendance at ringside and shared his thoughts on the victory and safe to say he wasn’t overly impressed.

Benn said, “Smith made him look good. What, it takes you ten rounds to dispatch of someone who’s got a broken leg? I’m not really impressed.”

“Eubank, let’s get it on, there’s unfinished business there.

“You could definitely see that it was an injury, that’s all that was. 100 per cent, you could tell Smith weren’t himself. His shots weren’t coming off, he weren’t able to get out the way of the shots. And that’s all that was.

“I didn’t think it was an impressive performance. If you’ve got a wounded man in there, take hold of them, get them out of there. If I’ve got someone injured in front of me who can’t throw back, they ain’t seeing the end of the round. That’s it.

“He looked better than he has done previously, but it weren’t all that. Smith made him look good tonight.
