Boxing superstar Anthony Joshua will take on a risky opponent in a heavyweight bout to secure a super-fight with Deontay Wilder. Robert Helenius steps in on short notice to face Joshua after Dillian Whyte was pulled off the card due to a failed drug test from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency last weekend.

In preparation for a potential fight with Wilder, Joshua wanted to stay active and accept the late-notice fight to get used to his new boxing trainer. "AJ" decided to switch training camps after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk last August. For his comeback fight against Jermaine Franklin this past April , he joined Derrick James in Dallas, Texas, who also trains fighters like Errol Spence Jr. and Jermell Charlo. Joshua's fight with Franklin showed that he was still getting used to his new trainer, but he was able to get the dominant win.

Today, Joshua hopes to show the boxing world the result of training with James and that he can be a champion again. However, he's taking a risk by facing an opponent he did not originally prepare to fight.

The last time Joshua fought an opponent on short notice, he suffered a crushing defeat to Andy Ruiz by knockout in June 2019. He'll try to avoid the same mistake, as losing will ruin his chances of securing a super-fight. However, Helenius is a big and formidable opponent with punching power that could cause an upset victory.
