Angels sit Morales, but it's just for rest
Kendrys Morales was out of the Angels' lineup Sunday.
No big deal, said manager Mike Scioscia.
Morales, out since May 2010 because of a broken leg, was the designated hitter the three previous days, and it was time for a break. Morales made his 2012 debut on Thursday. It was the first time he played in a game since the injury May 29, 2010.
"He has to get his body acclimated," Scioscia said.
Scioscia is aware the switch-hitting Morales will need some days off during the regular season. Most likely, those days will come against left-handed pitchers.
"He will DH against virtully every righty,'' Scioscia. "It's not going to be a playtton, but there are going to be times he needs a day off.''
In his career, Morales has hit .295 with a .537 slugging average against right-handed pitchers. He has a .255 average and .403 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers.
