Marlins ready to shake things up
With the Florida Marlins in the midst of a shocking tailspin — having lost 15 of their last 16 games through Thursday's 3-0 loss at Philadelphia — owner Jeffrey Loria is pondering changes to turn things around for his last-place club.
Even though Loria is currently in Europe, the team is expected to make a roster move today. Loria is also considering whether or not to make a managerial move, as Edwin Rodriguez is not on firm ground.
There is still some interest within the organization in current Chicago White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen, whom the Marlins checked on last offseason (White Sox wanted young outfielder Logan Morrison in return), and even Bobby Valentine.
A move to land Guillen is almost impossible to imagine happening during the season. Guillen is signed in Chicago through this season with a club option for 2012, an option that becomes guaranteed if the White Sox win the division title.
