Left fielder Michael Morse is the Washington Nationals player most likely to be moved, especially if the team re-signs free-agent first baseman Adam LaRoche.

Don’t be surprised, though, if second baseman Danny Espinosa also is the subject of trade discussions at the baseball winter meetings, which begin in Nashville on Monday.

Espinosa, 25, is likely to draw interest from teams who need either a second baseman or shortstop, and the Nats could be open to moving him in the right deal.

Steve Lombardozzi could replace Espinosa at second short-term, and top prospect Anthony Rendon eventually could end up at second if he does not replace Ryan Zimmerman at third.

Espinosa, in two-plus seasons, has batted .239 with 44 homers and a .727 OPS. His power is an asset. But in the past two seasons, he has struck out 166 and 189 times.

Last season, Espinosa started 119 games at second base as well as 34 at short when Ian Desmond was injured. He played short in college and early in his minor-league career.
