Cardinals, Reds and Tigers interested in Dotel
Free-agent reliever Octavio Dotel has garnered interest from a number of teams, and the Cardinals, Reds and Tigers are among those that have inquired about him, according to a major-league source.
Dotel, who turned 38 last week, was a valuable member of the Cardinals’ bullpen during the second half and World Series run, compiling a 2.61 ERA in 12 postseason appearances.
Dotel seems best suited for a seventh-inning role at this stage of his career, but he can handle the eighth and ninth innings when needed. He saved 22 games as recently as the 2010 season.
